Memories of Doreen.
Doreen played many roles in BLODS productions. In particular I remember her delightful portrayal of the character 'Gretel' in 'White Horse Inn' in 1973. 'Gretel' has a lisp and cannot pronounce the letter 'S'. When she meets 'Sigismund' at the Inn and discovers his problem is that he is bald, she happily exclaims "now we are quitth" and when Sigismund calls her "My sweet little lisping pixie-wixie". They go into the delightful comedy duet 'Faities' and it's eccentric dance routine.

Message from MONTY dog....
Now I know I am considered unobservant.
Apparently, there are squirrels in trees, rabbits on
paths and mud that I could have walked around if
I’d been looking. But even I am aware that some of
my friends have gone; “passed on”, the humans call
it. I can’t say I really understand what it means,
indeed, I gather no one does, but they tell me my
friend Doreen won’t visit me anymore, I won’t have
cake and ball times with her in the garden and she
won’t be rubbing my tummy as she is in this
photograph. She could still get down on the floor
with me-AND GET UP AGAIN, in her 90s...........

On behalf of the St Mary's Fellowship I would like to say that Mrs Carter (as we all knew her) was an inspirational teacher and has left a lasting musical legacy which we all cherish. She performed at our meeting in St Leonards in 2017 with all her usual spirit and enthusiasm, it was wonderful. She will live on through her recordings made with the choirs at St Mary's and in our fond memories. Our thought are with the family she has left behind. Suzanne
